Assistant County Engineer

Applicants should have knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and procedures used in design, drafting, surveying, inspection, and construction of road and ditch projects. The position requires a high school degree, a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or an associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of eight years experience in Engineering, Design, Surveying, or related in this field.

This position provides administrative and clerical support to the County Highway Department involving creating, inputting, and accessing information in the computer system to maintain complete and accurate records; also performs accounting tasks under the direction of the Highway Accountant. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and five years of related office experience. Work experience in a County or other public sector environment is highly desirable. General responsibilities include phone, reception, scanning, and data entry/bookkeeping. Experience with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are required. Candidates should possess the ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.

Survey Crew Chief
Primary duties include highway/bridge design and construction surveying and inspection, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other computer applications, and applicable engineering duties. A diploma or AAS degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent training and experience is preferred but not required.

Traffic Control Technician/Plow Truck Driver & Maintenance
The Traffic Control Technician/Maintenance Worker is responsible for the management of all traffic control devices and traffic signs within the County Road and County State Aid Highway System, as well as providing services to City and Township Road authorities. Plow truck driving and general highway and bridge maintenance work is also required to be performed under this position. A Class A CDL is required.
